The CFSY’s National Convening brings together directly impacted leaders, family members of those given extreme sentences as youth, survivors of violence, legislators, corporate partners, attorneys, and supporters from around the country to join together as one community. Even as our criminal legal system polarizes us and denies our shared humanity, our CFSY community continuously demonstrates the power of recognizing our innate value as human beings, expressing vulnerability, and uniting to fight injustice together.
So many people in our community have lived through egregious sentences, endured trauma, and overcome unfathomable challenges to be present with us and ready to challenge systems of oppression. Though we come from different life experiences, we all have the ability to act against injustice and work to end extreme sentencing of children in the United States.
